May 2025 – Webinar: How to Approach Working with Historic Structures
Olga Hathaway, Consultant IV at Building Enclosure Science, presented on historic versus existing structures and how the distinction affects our approach to projects. Topics addressed included how to identify if a historic structure is listed or eligible for designation, what resources are available for performing research, and how a building’s historic status impacts our repair recommendations.
April 2025 – Failures and the Save: Building Enclosures and Hygrothermal Analysis
Len Anastasi, President at EXO-TEC Companies, presented on building enclosure assemblies that have experienced failures, as well as building enclosure designs that would have resulted in failures and the changes to the design that avoided the failures. The event included a live hygrothermal analysis to show which building enclosure assemblies work in their respective climate zones and which do not.
February 2025 – Stretch Energy Codes for Existing Buildings
Brian Neely, AIA, CDT, BECxP, and Sam W. Wesselman, RA, presented on Stretch Energy Codes for Existing Buildings. Attendees learned about the fundamental principles of Stretch Energy Codes and how to identify when they apply to renovations of existing buildings, how to identify key compliance pathways and project types affected by Stretch Energy Codes, and how to assess thermal enclosure upgrades. The presentation explored several case studies and design considerations to understand how Stretch Codes drive sustainable practices and support jurisdictions in achieving energy and emissions targets.
November 2024 – Boot Camp
