This one-hour presentation will explore effective strategies for gathering and organizing roofing data across single or multiple sites. It will demonstrate how tools ranging from simple Excel spreadsheets to sophisticated web-based platforms can be used to manage this information. The session will feature two case studies that illustrate both basic and advanced methods for roofing asset management.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Leah Ruther is a Senior Associate with the Detroit office of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. Since joining WJE in 2012, she has developed broad expertise in structural engineering and building enclosure projects. Her professional experience includes the investigation and analysis of existing and damaged structures, the development of comprehensive technical repair and rehabilitation documents, and on-site construction observation. Ms. Ruther specializes in facades, masonry, roofing, waterproofing, and a wide range of structural systems.
Remo R. Capolino, P.E., RRC has over 35 years of experience in the roofing, waterproofing, and sheet metal industries. His experience began in his family-owned roofing and specialty sheet metal contracting company in the 1980’s and continued in 1997 when he began exterior envelope consulting in the Pacific Northwest. Remo is experienced in all aspects of building envelope consultation, including forensic investigation, testing standards, litigation consulting and testimony, design, detailing, construction document production, contract administration, site observations, and peer review. He actively works with low- and steep-slope roofing, architectural sheet metal, windows, doors, curtain walls, all types of siding, damproofing, and waterproofing. His extensive experience with ornamental metal work includes The Pierre Hotel, Minnesota and Texas State Capitol Buildings, New York Public Library Main Branch, American Museum of Natural History, numerous Federal Courthouse copper roofs, and many other buildings of historical importance.
